Best Practices for Supporting Nonprofits

Philanthropy is part of the Fresh Success Marketing Group mission. Much like many other business teams, we are committed to making the world a better place. There are many ways to give back and a multitude of causes to support. Despite this variety, however, we adhere to practices that help us make the biggest possible impact:

• How to Give: There is always some sort of cost incurred by the nonprofit for handling donations. Direct gifts require their staff to record information, prepare tax receipts, and fulfill other administrative tasks. Gifts made through check, credit card, and PayPal typically cost 15 to 30 percent of the amount given.  Gifts made through fundraising events sometimes cost the nonprofit 50 percent of the amount given. We always keep these points in mind, especially when it comes to year-round giving.

• When to Give: Timing is a big part of the Fresh Success Marketing Group success strategy. As with just about everything else in business, timing matters when giving. For instance, causes that help children may experience the greatest need during the holidays, summer vacations, and back-to-school seasons. Nonprofit staff are often appreciative of recurring donations, such as monthly gifts. This is because they know what to expect and can plan accordingly. Recurring donations also enable the givers and the nonprofits to maintain lasting and meaningful relationships.

Use these techniques to maximize your charitable impact.
