Networking is an integral part of the Fresh Success Marketing Group success strategy. We often attend industry and community events, building mutually beneficial relationships with influential people. Experience, along with training, has taught us some effective networking strategies.
You may have heard the old advice to always take a friend when going to a social event. Doing so will make things more comfortable. We’ve noticed that individuals who do so, however, are likely to spend most of their time interacting with their friends than they are meeting new people. When we attend functions together, we commit to splitting up and engaging with others separately. It allows us to cover more ground anyway.
We also do our homework before every event. Most organized gatherings have social media pages and agendas, which we peruse to learn about the people who will attend. We identify those with whom we can exchange the most value, and determine how we will introduce ourselves and strike up conversations when the time comes. We practice our pitches as well, focusing on how we can spread the word about Fresh Success Marketing Group.
When we strike up discussions, we commit to them. Instead of glancing around the room or checking our phones and watches, we listen attentively to the people we meet. Eye contact, smiling, firm handshakes, and other positive uses of body language also help us communicate our interest.
